Reno, NV • Non-Wind // Giant Leap Podcast Trailer Launch!

For the last year, I’ve been working with my friends Joey Lovato and Taylor Wilson to create a new science podcast + youtube show called Giant Leap.

We’ll be launching the trailer at a special event in Reno, NV in the back room of Craft Wine and Beer. It’ll feature a screening of the trailer, and a conversation on science literacy and education with Joey, Taylor and science communicator Jennifer Kent.

Curiosity Lab by DRI brings together storytellers from science, the humanities, and the arts to illuminate our shared connection to the state of Nevada.

Join DRI and Nevada Humanities for an evening of inspiration and creativity at Curiosity Lab by DRI’s official Artown event “From Curiosity to Creation: Listen, Learn, Create.” Discover the intersection of art and science through lightning talks from innovative artists and scientists, then unleash your own creativity with provided materials. The evening culminates in a pop-up gallery, where you can explore the collective creations of the community. Come ready to listen, learn, and create!

Featured storyteller: Fil Corbitt, producer, The Wind podcast. Fil will be telling the story of using sound to explore place. Their signature sound recordings around Nevada and the world bring the natural world to listeners, allowing them to use just their sense of hearing to experience the environment.

Join us for an evening of audio storytelling covers and original performances in Los Angeles.

Broadcasting can be ephemeral—a track bounces around the airwaves or drops into a podcast feed where listeners hear it once or twice. Retracks is a live series that gathers audio folks to reinterpret, remix, and re-track, breathing new life into old radio pieces. Just like a song cover, but for radio.

The first two installments occurred at RESONATE in Richmond, VA and On Air Fest in Brooklyn, NY. The third installment of Retracks will be its west coast debut, and will feature original performances and tapings alongside covers.
